Our Church Needs Different Types of Visitation Teams: We would like for you to prayerfully consider if Christ might be leading you to assist in a sunshine visit.
You Might be lead to
· Choose one type of visitation
· Decide to only visit one person.
· Go on you own or go as a team
· Your time frame might be
Once a week ***Once a month***Once a quarter ***One time only
The following are some of the different areas we need visitors and some suggestions on what you can do in that visit. As you will notice it doesn’t need a long visit, in fact sometimes long visits are NOT the best.
The suggestion of taking something is just that. .. a suggestion. . . having something to bring and leave brings comfort. If you sense that your place in Sunshine visits is to help provide something to be taken then also give us a call.
Nursing Home/ Homebound Visitation : You would be provided the name or names of someone that need a visit. The elements for Holy Communion would be made available for you to take and give. It takes 10 to 15 minutes to off a listening ear and the Lord’s Prayer to let someone know they are not forgotten. It doesn’t hurt to have a homemade goodie once you find out what they like and what they can have.
Hospital Visitation: This could be either a visit while the person is in the hospital and/or when he/she first comes home. Dropping by for a few minutes to bring a prayer and a smile helps people feel better. When they come home a visit to drop by a healthy meal for the family is also always appreciated.
First Time Visitors to our Church Visitation: This would be a door step visit only. On the Sunday they visit or the next Monday early evening. Stop by with something that has the church name on it. Even if the visitors are NOT at home when you drop by, then a loaf of bread hung on the door knob or a little plant sitting on the door step that says “thanks for visiting and we hope you come back” will bring a smile of appreciation and there is a good chance will bring them back the next Sunday.
A Visit with Members who has been Missing from the Church: This is perhaps
the most challenging visit to make and yet most rewarding when the person on the other end hears it as a Word of Love. The results
aren’t always about getting that person or family back into the church. It is a representative of that church letting them know
they are missed and we still consider them a part of the family of faith. Perhaps the best approach unless you know that person
well is to give them a call.
Our Sunshine Visit comes when we are called by our Son-shine, Jesus Christ, to reach out to someone and let them know they are not forgotten or that we noticed when they came or we miss them when they are not here.
If you have any questions, suggestions or
you are just ready to take the plunge into an aspect of Sunshine Visit. Please call Pastor Melissa or the Church Office and
someone will get back to you.
