Born and raised in San Antonio, TX, Katy has a Bachelors in Economics from Trinity University, and was heading for a career in Urban
Development when God re-directed her into ministry. She graduated with a Masters of Divinity degree in 2007 from Princeton Theological
Seminary. During her seminary years, God opened doors for some unique ministry experiences that have enabled her to identify her greatest
passion in ministry as encompassing international work and a pursuit of social justice for all of God's people. The cumulative effect
of these experiences led Katy on a detour following graduation from seminary; one year serving with a medical mission project in the
highlands of Guatemala. Upon returning to the country in May 2008, Katy was appointed as an associate pastor at FUMC, Harlingen, where
she continues to serve part time. In July 2010 she was appointed as the pastor of FUMC, San Benito, and the journey goes on...
"God has an amazing way of calling us into the deepest of waters without our floaties. When we faithfully answer those calls, despite
our greatest fears, there will be times when we sink like a rock. The blessing comes not when God yanks us to the surface, but when
God gives us gills."
